Assoonashewasalonewithhisbride-to-be,thestrangerbroughtouthishalfoftheringanddroppeditintoaglassofwine,whichhehandedacrossthetabletoher.Shetookthewine,butwhenshehaddrunkitandfoundthehalfringlyingatthebottom,herheartbegantobeat.Shetooktheotherhalf,whichsheworeonaribbonaroundherneck,putthemtogether,andsawthatthetwopiecesmatchedperfectly.

Thenhesaid,"Iamyourbetrothedbridegroom,whomyousawasBearskin.ThroughGod'sgraceIhaveregainedmyhumanformandhavebecomecleanagain."

Hewenttoher,embracedher,andgaveherakiss.Inthemeantimethetwosisterscamebackinfulldress.Whentheysawthattheyoungestsisterhadreceivedthehandsomeman,andheardthathewasBearskin,theyranoutfilledwithangerandrage.Oneofthemdrownedherselfinthewell.Theotherhangedherselfonatree.
